nothing incredibly huge....
but i really like the Sid Ponson deal for both sides. prolly the biggest trade of this year's deadline...
that was pretty huge for SF to get a guy in the middle of a career year. and the o's get a couple of young live arms.....
any other thoughts?

i like that deal too! for obvious reasons!!! i hope this one pans out!! :D but what i found most interesting for all the slew of deals is the yanks and red sox... they were like goin back and forth with trades.. i think that'll make for some good august and september baseball! :)

It's too bad Boone went to the Stankies. You know that it is going to take a long time for him to feel comfortable wearing the uniform, after spending so long with the Cincinatti Reds. Anyone else think it was because he was complaining about his dad being fired?

With Boone's trade, they were getting Clausen... top notch pitching prospect and a bunch of money.
in the media, Boone said all the right things...
did u guys see him start crying in the press conference? that dude did NOT want to leave cincy. :bawl:

I like the trade the Cubs made to aquire Lofton and Ramirez. Lofton has gone like 200 something games without an error and still has great speed for his age and provides the cubs with a left handed bat to replace Cory Patterson. Aramis Ramirez is certainly a hell of a lot better than Jose 'the strike-out king' Hernandez playing the hot corner, even if he makes a good amount of errors they were really in need of someone who can put the ball in play.

I hate the trade for boone. I really didnt watn to give up claussen at all. I root hardest for the homegrown yankees.

trying to justify being a yanks fan because everyone knows that they win because they have tons of money to spend? :P
would you root hardest for the homegrown yankees if instead of giambi, boone, and most of your pitching staff...you had johnson, henson, and a bunch of young arms with semi-decent promise leading your yanks to a second place finish behind the sox? :P
i think not

I had more fun when the Yankees were terrible in the early 90s. Now, I have this fear every year since 96 about the Yankees in the playoffs. Like in 1998, I couldnt stand to watch the playoffs in case the Yanks choked. Its not as much fun being the overwhelming favorite most years. I remember watching Bernie Williams strike out five times in one game and getting demoted right after it when he was still young. Those days were a lot of fun.

Ponson is a good pitcher but I think SF gave up too much with ainsworth. They've been touting him for years. I know they are running out of time to win a world series with barry but it seemed steep. I forget the other prospects name but he was supposedly pretty good too.

I agree, Ainsworth has been highly touted over the years, and the Giants gave up a bit in Moss as well. But Moss has been shaky over the year, and Ainsworth was on the DL, and coming off the DL, his performance is uncertain. The Giants made the trade in hopes of going for the sure bet, and making a strong push towards the offseason.

Ponson pitched well tonight in a losing effort. Cant fault him for losing when he only gives up 2 runs.

I found out the the Giants included a prospect in A ball in the ponson trade that could be something special. Lefthander who throws in the mid 90s but has struggle this year because of injuries.
