Bare Burrito! lol ;) Never heard of that one. I guess if you really want a burrito just buy the tortilla or bring your own.

Just wanted to let you know I passed it along to several peps at work, went out to Baja Fresh.

This bowl ain't bad ... it defintely isn't a salad. It is a burrito with no tortilla. Everything else is the same.

It's $5.95 regular price, I walked out paying $1.99 (plus tax)

It's a good deal until end of Sept.

The question is, can it still be called a burrito without the tortilla?

Merriam-Webster says NO!

Main Entry: bur·ri·to
Pronunciation: b&-'rE-(")tO
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -tos
Etymology: American Spanish, from Spanish, little donkey, diminutive of burro
Date: 1934
: a flour tortilla rolled or folded around a filling (as of meat, beans, or cheese) and usually baked

It looks like the burrito got it's name because it resembles the body shape of the burro and the the only way it could resemble a donkey is, if it is wrapped in a tortilla. I guess without the tortilla, the burrito resembles donkey droppings more than a small donkey! :D

I was just there this past weekend. I love their food so much that I would gladly try a burrito without a tortilla. I suppose I could order one on the side if I really wanted one. Thanks.

hi,

i had this burrito very recently. it's called the "bare burrito." bare = no tortilla. it's basically like a chicken or steak bowl with rice, beans, salsa, chiles, etc.

it's also pretty tasty. and with a large drink, a $2 meal of this quality can't be beat!

enjoy!
