I'm planning for a weekend getaway to Catalina Island. For those whom have been there before, which hotel would you recommend? TIA

I was planning on camping.
i've only been there for a day trip. i don't think you can really go wrong with any of them though, they've all prolly got nice ocean views ;)

Is it worth to do a 2 days 1 night trip to Catalina? I've got mix feedbacks from my friends. Some like it, the others don't. But most of them do only 1 day trip.
I did a weekend trip once, and I thought it was good that we stayed overnight (but that's because we wanted to go on certain tours). If you're looking for a night life, there isn't any. I think many of the places close around 9 or so. But if you just want to sunbathe, look at some tiny shops, or go on tours then its pretty nice there.
Oh and I stayed at the Seaport Village Inn. Its an ok place to stay, though we didn't get the ocean view... and the beach isn't far from most of the hotels anyway.
I was there with a friend who was visiting from the east coast. we took a glass bottom boat tour and just enjoyed the beach and the gorgeous weather and did it all in about 8 hours which included lunch and a nice long dinner at Busy Bee's restaurant right on the water. That 8 hours was more than enough for us...if you're going with a S.O. then perhaps you could stay overnight, but as yo mentioned above, there isn't much night life or other things to do late at night...well, except THAT other thing *wink wink*
