I bought a pair the other day for back packing and I tested them out on Saturday at this little trail up in Westchester, NY. They are awesome. I was wading ankle deep in a stream and they kept me dry as a bone.

They are last year's Asolo Goretex backpacking boots. I got them at Sierratradingpost.com for $129. They were going for $179 at EMS and this year's model was going for over $200 at EMS.

You and I probably have very similar boots - I also have high-end Asolo boots. From my experience are an excellent 3-5 day hiking boot. I haven't been out in them for more than 3 days so I can't comment on how they are after 5 days (though from what a serious hiking friend told me, they are more of a 7-10 day boot).

This is what I got. It's the last year's model:

Ski I hope you are of the female gender.
Good timing as my really old hiking boots aren't keeping the water out.
What was the break in period?
Weight decent or pretty heavy?
Thanks

Well I went hiking with them for the first time to break them in on Saturday. They were really comfortable on my hike. We hiked for about 3 hours on easy terrain. They aren't too heavy. About 3 lbs. Awesome ankle support.
Hate to tell you dude but I logged onto sierra trading and the current price is $79.95 > appears to be the same boots.
Great price thanks for the info
C & O Canal here in Washington has some awesome trails.
