View Full Version : Seriously?

OK, I'm generally not one to get involved in religous debate, since people will believe what they want to, and there's not much point in trying to convince them otherwise.

However, when I saw this site (http://objective.jesussave.us/creationsciencefair.html), I had to share it with everyone. My initial thought was that it was a parody site making fun of creationists, but upon closer examiniation, it seemd that this is an actual event.

I'm sure many of the entrants into this fair put a lot of time & effort into thier projects, and some wouldn't be out of place at any other science fair.

However, many entries are obviously the kids efforts at 'proving' things that are faith based. Entries such as "My Uncle Is A Man Named Steve (Not A Monkey)", "Pokemon Prove Evolutionism Is False" and "Rocks Can't Evolve, Where Did They Come From Mr. Darwin?" all seem to be projects that prove nothing more than the student's faith that these things are true. Good exercise for a religious school, but not much science there. (Although I'd be interested to read Pokemon's proof!)

The one that really takes the cake, though, is the 2nd place winner for the middle school entrants, "Women Were Designed For Homemaking"

Jonathan Goode (grade 7) applied findings from many fields of science to support his conclusion that God designed women for homemaking: physics shows that women have a lower center of gravity than men, making them more suited to carrying groceries and laundry baskets; biology shows that women were designed to carry un-born babies in their wombs and to feed born babies milk, making them the natural choice for child rearing; social sciences show that the wages for women workers are lower than for normal workers, meaning that they are unable to work as well and thus earn equal pay; and exegetics shows that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, not as a co-worker.

Do they seriously teach that in the Baptist church - that women aren't meant to do anything except procreate & serve men?

It's a parody ;). Check out the Members page (http://objective.jesussave.us/members.html). Dr. Paley has a degree in Theobiology? Another one "enjoys vexillology and can signal Bible passages from memory in fluent semaphore."

:stupid:

i had to look at a few pages but i'm quite sure that it is a rather well-constructed parody.

Baptists are funky.

I grew up Baptist and during junior high, when the preacher preached on the evils of GIRL SCOUTS (which I was a member of and my mom was the leader of), we changed churches. LOL

I was really trying to lose weight and didn't want to buy any. They asked me, I politely said "No thank you" and one of the moms muttered something about not helping out these poor scouts or something. I told her I was diabetic. You should have seen the look on her face ;).
