This one reminds me of some of OC's stories. I get sent an email that a customer has been trying for months to get the printer we supplied as part of a system to work, even after repeated calls with our support (supposedly me). I reply that I've never talked with this customer, and give them a call. The first guy says the printer has never worked, and that his boss tried to install the same model on his mother's computer and couldn't get it to work, so there must be something wrong with it (a standard HP model). I asked if there was a technical person I could speak with, and he passes me on to Mr. IT guy. I ask IT guy to check the printer status in the OS. He goes right to it and says it looks OK, powers on the printer and prints the test page. I ask him to check printing from an application, and he creates a WordPad sample using multiple fonts and color, and everything is ok. He then asks the guys standing around, "Did you guys ever press the power button on the printer?" Case solved.
