we'll sit around and be all "how about italian food?" or "let's get some chinese" or some such. just kinda curious...do people in china get all like "let's go get some american food" or "hey, i've been craving some US [food] "? do they say "this place has the most authentic american stuff"? or even "i love that place...the owners are real american"?

In Sweden there was an 'American' resturant that I went to. Pretty much like a TGI Fridays but the food was better (& more expensive).

In Paris I went to the 'Minnesota Tex-Mex' or some mixed up place like that. They were trying to make a southwestern US themed resturant, but apparently didn't bother to look on a map to see what states were in any sort of proximity to the southwest.

If I was trying to decide on a place to dine in Paris, that would probably been at about the bottom of my list. :toxic:

American food is easy.

Just try finding U.S. food.

Yup and some small american restaurants opened up by Chinese who returned to China after living in the US for awhile.

Actually, from experience I know that they do say "lets go get some western food."

Yeah, you would think so, huh? After 9 hours of meetings & another 2-3 hours of walking around Paris, we just jumped at the first place that smelled good & had a decent crowd. The food wan't bad, but they sure didn't know their geography.
