These seem like good deals > anyone have experience with IBM notebooks?

40% off seem good but they are still pricey?

superior to dells?

Most companies I have been to as a consultant standardized on IBM laptops. Dell servers are preferred for PC.

I have been using IBM laptops for last 8 years. Different models.
Always much stable than my wife's dell. The only thing that usually go first is the mouse pointer.

I have an internet connection which I currently use on a 2 year old IBM laptop. It is very sturdy.
From what I have learned, IBM and Toshiba generally are rated the highest for notebook quality.

The T series is absolutely awesome. I've had one. Best built laptop I've ever used.

IBM's tend to have the best chassis, as well as the best keyboards. For the money, you get a lot less power and bells & whistles.

yep, one more vote for ibm, they're awesome windows lappies. The T series is the one to get otherwise the R isn't bad. But depends on if you're looking for a super portable or a desktop one. The X series is nice and small.

It's a shame it looks like the T series doesn't come in SXGA+, automatic deal killer for me.

It does, only in the 1.6Ghz Centrino. $$$

Yeah I just found that out. I think that may be killing some deals, my friend wanted a T with higher resolution too, but ti looks to be $2300+ for it, with weak specs (128 RAM, etc).

Probalby going with a fujitsu lifebook.

I ended up with a MUCH better deal > IBM is offering 20% for businesses who have not ordered from them in one year or so.

Ordered a fully loaded T40 > can't wait for that puppy to arrive.

Much better deal, eh?
Give us a round about price...

A T is not worth it unless it's SXGA to me. That pushes it way over $2000 and some are near $3000...not worth it. What was your deal?
Even at "up to 40%" off for michigan studetns/faculty, they had Ts for sale at $3000+. What a "DEAL"!!

Fully loaded T40 with Centrino 1.6 512 mb, 60gb hd CD-RW / DVD SXGA wireless with ever option available including blue tooth > 3 years bumper to bumper warranty against " accident" damage for under $3,000
