I would. But i'm luckly getting over my insomnia. YAY! it's been quite some time. I actually have been able to remember dreams lately. so nice.

edit: speaking of which, i wonder if there is a way to mod the board so it shows in the profile when a poster is usually online. that would be fairly interesting.

Even though this post was not made in the twilight hours, I definitely have the credentials to join the society as a large portion of my posts are made after midnight in every time zone!

I've got an unfair advantage...;)

Actually, it works to my advantage sometimes. When Apex and Leon and gang post the next day's deals, it's usually still evening here and I can usually get in on them before most of the "mainland" folks wake up...Of course, this only applies to those who sleep at NIGHT...

The words have been drained from this pencil
Sweet words that I want to give you
And I cant sleep, I need to tell you... goodnight

When we’re together I fell perfect
When I’m pulled away from you I fall apart
All that you say is sacred to me
Your eyes are so blue, I can’t look away
As we lay in the stillness you whisper to me

Lady, marry me, promise you’ll stay with me
Oh you don’t have to ask me
You know you’re all that I live for
You know I’d die just to hold you, stay with you
Somehow I’ll show you that you are my night sky
I’ve always been right behind you
Now I’ll always be right beside you

So many nights I’ve cried myself to sleep
Now that you love me I love myself
I never thought I would say that
I never thought there’d be you

early night for me all. goodnight.

Jenny
08-21-2003, 12:37 AM
Depends on how tired I am. Sometimes, I don't remember anything, which means I fell asleep within a couple of minutes. Others, like tonight, I lay down and 20 minutes later, had to get up because I was just tossing & turning. heh

DankNstickY
08-21-2003, 01:15 AM

see, i don't like trying to force myself to sleep when i'm not tired, because i've literally tossed and turned in bed for 2 to 3 hours.

but usually, when i do go to bed and i'm tired, it takes me less than 10 minutes, and i'm OUT.

revil

usually anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. if i'm extreamly tired, as in the body doesn't work properly anymore from sleep deprivation, around 5 to 10 minutes.

joke of the day (errr nite):

A psychiatrist was conducting a group therapy session with four young mothers and their small children. "You all have obsessions," he observed.

To the first mother, Mary, he said, "You are obsessed with eating. You've even named your daughter Candy".

He turned to the second Mom, Ann: "Your obsession is with money. Again, it manifests itself in your child's name, Penny".

He turns to the third Mom, Joyce: "Your obsession is alcohol. This too manifests itself in your child's name, Brandy".

At this point, the fourth mother, Kathy, gets up, takes her little boy by the hand and whispers. "Come on, Dick, we're leaving."

Update on my weekend. Sunday morning my bro and me drove down to San Diego to watch the Chargers get their ass kicked once again. We then drove over to a sports bar out on Mission Bay overlooking the Pacific and watched the Sunday night football game (Buffalo vs. Miami) while we ate greasy fried foods and drank beer.

This morning/afternoon we went over to the San Diego Zoo and saw all them cool animals. Let me tell you, the Pandas, Polar Bears and Apes are AWESOME. I should have pictures developed in the next few days, so I'll post a link when i get them back. Stupid me forgot to bring both my digital camera and my good 35mm camera to San Diego...so i ended up taking all the photos with a 3-year old elph LT 35mm camera. I really hope the pictures came out.

After arriving back in LA around 5pm, we went over to El Torito with my roommate and his friend for our routine Margarita Monday and ate cheap food, drank margaritas and watched the Monday Night Football game (Oakland vs. Denver).

All in all it was a fun and productive weekend. I'm not sure what my bro and me are going to do Tuesday...maybe hit up the beach, grab dinner in Venice at C&O Trattoria (awesome Italian food).

Wednesday i'll be dropping off my bro at the airport then i'll be heading to my former employer's to do some tech stuff since my (old) boss is on vacation. The CFO called me and told me to just come in, fix things, and give him a "rate" and he'll pay me. I guess the company's standard consultant rate is more than reasonable: $2,250/week assuming 56 hours...so that's...$40/hour. I think that's fair :)

When I consult the hourly rate I charge varies - $100/hr for basic cabling/infrastructure stuff, $150 for Cabling RFP proposal consulting, $250 for Network Engineering ($250 for the first 2 hours, then $250 for each additional hour), $400 if I have to do C-10 electrical engineering where I have to put my PE stamp on it (I rarely do this - usually that is just plan review and doesn't take more than a couple of hours). I must say it's nice having good contacts in the industry here in So. Cal. (just tough to maintain sometimes - especially at Christmas)

1) The public library is only 2 blocks from where I work. It will probably be in my lunch-time routine from now on.

2) One of the mantras that my college football team used to chant before games is actually a Helen Keller quote... I didn't know the origins prior to today. "I am only one, but still I am one. I can't do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something that I can do." That was immediately followed by grrr's and grunts and the pounding of chests. So Helen Keller like. :shifty:

3) My feelings for my ex have hit neutral. I would still like to pursue a friendship, but we'll see about that in the next year or so. :P

4) ALL comic book store owners really do look like that guy from the Simpsons.

5) There was a new traffic law passed in California. Vehicles that are making a left turn through an intersection now have priority over pedestrians in the crosswalk. Apparently, it is on the books now, or, at least, so I've been told.

6) If your life gets so piled up with sh1t that you can't even see the horizon, just lean back and laugh. Hell, it's all you can do.

7) I also found out that, sometimes, friends can actually be more supportive and trusting than family. :(

8) Cute girls really DO hang out at crosswalks and wait for you to press the button for them.

Anyone see that movie Serendipity with John Cusack and KATE BECKINSDALE? I got a Kate fix after seeing Underworld this week, and out of the movies my friend had (don't question her picks :heh: ) :

Kangaroo Jack
Much ado about Nothing
Serendipity

I picked the chick flick. Man alive, I couldn't stomach it! Too many "random" things happening, I just wanted to punch John Cusack (and _____ Kate Beckinsdale) :hihi: for being a reluctant son of a gun

CF finishes up his job and i'm starting my new one in less than 36 hours. I actually can't wait to get back in the grind. I've been pretty much bored out of my mind the past 2 weeks. Everybody I know is 1) working 2) back in school or 3) too poor to go somewhere with me. My brother came to visit for 4.5 days, which was nice...I have to admit that I do miss working and I miss my old colleagues. I did get to take a few of them out to lunch courtesy of the company =D It's great when they called me back to take care of a few tech issues (which wasn't even my freaking job there) and I billed them for lunch for 5 of us that day. Haha. A lot of people told me to bill higher rates, but this company treated me very well and I wasn't about to take advantage of them. I consider many people there my friends and I do intend to keep in touch with everyone in their Los Angeles office (about 60 people).

Otherwise, I have another Sunday of peace and relaxation, watching football, eating junk food, playing video games, watching movies. Come Monday, I'll be head-to-head with company politics and the corporate ladder. Yiippeeee! I'm so excited!

Wow... I should be asleep right now. I had a three or so hour IM chat with my ex today, and it went a lot better than I thought it was going to. Basically, we were able to catch up. I apologized for some things I had said. She admitted to having been a little placative.

All in all, I thing we might be able to get through this with our frienship intact. She said that she wanted to start things with a clean slate--not just with me but other issues in her life as well. It is weird, though, to talk to her as just a friend, but I am still happy with the way things are turning out.

what kind of weird dreams do you usually get?

I keep having dreams about conversations and situations with people I know. For instance, last night, I had a dream that two of my co-workers were getting married, so I had to keep them from seeing each other. However, they were at work, so I had to physically stand between them to keep from messing up their wedding day. Of course, both co-workers were married already... and they were both guys. :2far:

why are people so always afraid to be the first one to open up? to admit their feelings? to let their guard down? to lose that control..that power? to feel insecure...

Because they have usually been hurt in the past. That is one of the biggest reasons that I have become self ridiculing in certain circumstances. Once I draw attention to myself, others are more likely to open up.

like ladogaboy said, previous hurt conditions us to defend ourselves when it's possible we're gonna get hurt.

it's surprising how many people are insecure with who they are inside. it's very sad too. but if people will just look inside, and be happy with who they are, the world would probably be a much different place.

Have any of you ever looked back over a period of your life and felt as though another person lived it instead of you?

Right now, I feel like I am not the person who walked the path to get where I am today, but everyone seems to think that he and I are the same. :(
