I'm sitting here -- surrounded by 100 or so computers. I think the correct way to sum up my weekend is..........

Got|LANParty? (http://www.lanageddon.com)

[EDIT]

This is *not* QuakeCon..... I wish. :) Still, it's a pretty fun one here in Calgary Alberta Canada.

Well, today was the last day of my 9 day vacation... I really don't want to go back, but a paycheck is nice.

The kids came in on Wed night and we haven't had a good night sleep since! We have been up watching movies and playing and Friday we played mini golf and Donnie took them on the mini indi cars and bumper boats. We had fun until it was over.

We played some video games and stayed up late and played some more today. Rode bikes and rollerskated. (I watched :) )

Tomorrow, back to work for me, yard for Donnie and if they kids don't get their rooms clean tonight- that's what they will be doing tomorrow.

How long is she going to be in Ireland and where? Just yesterday I was making B&B reservations for Mrs. Kevster and I in Dublin and Kilkenny for the week of September 14th. I have a few extra days to plan out so I think I'll take her to Tipperary, Cork or Killarney. I've already kissed the Blarney stone, but Mrs. Kevster hasn't yet.

EDIT: We are definitely going to Glendalough - we have to see St. Kevster's Cross, St. Kevster's Abbey, St. Kevster's Church and St. Kevster's cave. You also have to ride St. Kevster's bus line to get there :)

As for my plans this weekend, I already spent 2 hours in a marketing focus group for a ugly new Mitsubishi truck in development and I went shopping for shoes, pants, etc. Now I get to do house stuff tomorrow and help out my friend Matt with some car stuff (radiator) that takes two sets of hands to finish.

Dublin is cool-look for the MATTHEWS Funeral Parlor/Pub..right in the middle of town-it's got a red awning on it..1/2 funeral home-1/2 bar..
if you're lucky, you'll hit it when they are having a wake for someone. Most fun I ever had when we went was when we went to this place believe it or not..irish wakes are like italian weddings, lot's of booze, lot's of bickering, tears, and a whole lotta music. EEEUWWW..you kissed the blarney stone? haha our tour guide (who was a local) told us that the locals piss on the stone, plus, the whole idea of laying on my back and bending backwards just kind of freaked me out..so I did not partake of such activity..I loved Ireland. I have never seen so many different shades of green as I did over there-
Did you ever go to the Causeway?

This will be my 6th time in Ireland, her first. My brother used tyo live in Dublin, and we have many a pub crawl through Dublin (The Temple Bar especially  . We always looked for a pub with live entertainment as that is usually much more lively (as if Irish pubs need any help there :P ).

As for the Blarney stone, that guide was probably pulling your leg. The guy that holds your legs while you lean over has been doing it for over 30 years (and he wipes the stone off too - I've seen him do it).

As for the Causeway - are you referring to the Giant's Causway in No. Ireland? Yes - really cool to see - just like Devil's postpile near Mammoth Lakes and Pinnacles National Monument in Central CA. The causeway just happens to be at the shore and it's really cool (I saw it in winter and it was REALLY cold).

This weekend I developed a new respect for live music. You see my sister won concert tickets this weekend for this woman whom I have a CD for. I fealt the CD really bit the big one, however, I have a new opinion now. India Arie is a wonderful performer, and has one of the most gorgeous voices I have ever heard. Along with her amazing musical talent, she also has a spunky personality and won the crowd over. Great concert!!!

I've been frequenting concerts since '97 (first concert ever was Hot97's Summer Jam in 1997) and I have to say that seeing a live performance does open a side of an artist that isn't revealed on a studio recorded CD. I have found that there are so many artists who make their songs so much more appealing when they perform it live because they can improvise on the sound, their vocals etc etc etc. Glad you enjoyed India Arie! She does have a beautiful voice and her music isn't that catchy, but her sound is certainly unique! :p

Yes, the Giants Causeway. Wasn't that the wildest thing? We toured for 11 days. My hub did quite a bit of golfing with his friends while we ladies did the tour thing with the group we came over with...I thought Monaghan and Donegal were gorgeous. And the Malahyde Castle in Dublin was SOOOO AWESOME..it made me want to LIVE there..(well ok, but only if I could live in a castle)..Gap of Dunloe was a cute little place. I loved Ireland-I'll go back anyday.

She left last friday. And she will be returning on the 28th. I know she is visiting the entire coast, and Cork and Killarney, and Dublin we mentioned frequently, but really i dunno where she is going or what she is doing. But i do know that i have a bunch of international phone numbers, and no idea how to use them :D

And i don't know how much fun she is having. She called me yesterday morning about 6:30am our time, and told me so far both her planes had been delayed, and all their non-carryon luggage was missing =\
She is supposed to call me again at the end of this week, so i'll find out more then.
