mouse stalls in programs

i just put together a computer with 256mb pc100 ram, 40 gig hd, dvd player, cdrw, modem, and soundcard. my problem is when i open up a program such as ezcd creator or sign up to the internet, the mouse would lock up for 20 sec., then it would work again. any info is greatly appreciated.

There are many mice out on the market. If you could provide us with the exact mouse you have. It would be much easier.

I have seen simliar problems in the folowing mice. Razor Boomslang 1000 and 2000 DPI models. And Microsoft Optical Mice (Explorer and Egronomic 3.1)

But for these mice it it is a driver and hardware issue.

For you, this is one posiblity, the program Adaptec EzCD creator is trying to read the CD-ROM. Hence your system will lock up for a bit while this happens. This could be tied into your CPU.

The same thing with the internet. You try to launch the browser, it's accessing the hard drive, thousands of thigns are going on at once, and maybe to your computer, the mouse isn't priority 1.

I wouldn't worry though. It doesn't seem like it's a major issue. Now if you mouse totaly stopped working if you launched these programs or apps. That is a whole nother issue.
