I am having porblems with the shutdown on my Dual Celeron 400 on an ABit Bp6 mb with win 2k installed. When i go to shutdown it closes windows but doesnt fully shutdown the computer. I have to turn off the power supply to shut down the computer. How do I fix this?

this is a network problem. windows is detecting a live network connection and will not shut-down. i have had the same problem.

it could also be something with soft power and power management.

and don't forget to scandisk/defrag once in a while... I've had a good defrag take care of my shutdown problems many times in the past.

Did you use a non-MS defragmentation utility? When I try to defrag or error check It never stops going in loops.

You just may need a Rom-Bios update for the PC. Check the website..

I have also found that if you ever used a Registry *COUcrackGH* this problem is encountered. You may check that as well. Or if you are actually on a network with your NT system, you may illiminate all doubts by logging off, and unplugging the Cable. Next logg into the comp (not server), and try shutting down. I bet it won't shut down.

regedit, softboot stuff, and if absolutely necessary--call IBM and ask where the "Any" key is. hehe. that always cheers me up.
