my parents were having the same problem (up in north jersey). they had sprint...but couldn't take it anymore after moving to their new house..
just switched them over to verizon...and got them the LG VX3100 ( i believe) for 50 bucks after rebate. the plans aren't TOOO bad....i had them on the family plan on sprint, and switched them to the family plan on verizon... it came to about the same stuff....but got the unlimited nights and weekends with the new verizon plan...
