I would like to think that some of them have ulterior motives, but personally, I think most viruses are created by boredom.

What about because the economy sucks and so many ppl are out of jobs espicaly in the IT industry that ppl are making viruses because they are board or want to get highered as IT security workers???

Some morbid sense of accomplishment and "high" from hurting others. I equate the high with the people who toss rocks off a bridge and hurt or kill people.
