It's just a matter of trial and error of testing out different types of cd-r's. Some cd/dvd players just have the crappiest time trying to read cd-r's.

i have a sony cd player in my car, and the first day i got it i was sooooooo pissed off cause it wouldn't read any of my cdr's (tdk's) then i gave it one last shot but with a sony cdr and it worked perfect, from then on i only use lighter cd's like sony's, ricoh's, memorex, and PNY. Darker cdr's just dont work

Someone has made an attempt at catalogueing the compatibility of players (dvd) with regards to different CDR media types. If you use a DVD player to play back your CD audio CDR, then you will want a dual-head type player.

I have not been able to find a single website that lists the various REFLECTIVITY levels of the various brands (colours) of dyes used. Maybe someone who knows could post some numbers and then we could correlate the numbers with our own experiences?
