Did their service or finance department look like something out of Pulp Fiction? Man, that price absolutely rots.

What a ripoff!!! I know dealers overcharge, but that much?! That's just bull*@#%. Of course you can't beat the guarantee they give you, it's easier to trust them than any old mechanic in the yellow pages. Too bad good mechanics are hard to find http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif

hehe what you doing with a Honda in the first place...j/k

That price must be a joke. Maybe you have to hagle the price for the timing belt just like you got to do with their cars. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

not-so-suckage: Costco is only gonna charge me $7 a wheel for installing my new Dunlop SP9000s. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif I am going from tires with 420 treadwear to tires with 240 treadwear. HAHHAA... It better be worth it.

suckage: I wash/waxed my car yesterday. It's raining now... http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/mad.gif

not-so-suckage: Got a coupon from Honda in the mail that reduces the timing belt change on 90-94 Accords to only $240!!!

suckage: My car is a 95...

That's why you only wash your car when you don't have anything planned on the next day. Never seems to fail, I wash my car and it WILL rain.

Didn't you know that the raingod is in communique with the DWP and when they detect high water activity he comes at you at you out of spite.

Leon, that really bites with the Honda coupon. Life's a bitch, her name is, oh wait, better not http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

BTW, I'm not into maintaining my car anymore than it has to be. That whole 3k oil change is bullpucky. You change it based on driving style and commute.

Anywho, I haven't rotated my car's tires since 7700 miles and I'm nearing 15k. I've never had them balanced. Is it worth paying money just for this? The few extra dollars it saves on treadwear probably doesn't justify the cost. I was wondering if it helps with high speed stability since I so often confuse my car for a fighter plane. Damn that ZZ Top.

I know you get free rotations with some oil changes, but I use Mobil 1 and only change oil every 10k. It seems very clean now at 5K probably cuz I clean out the air filter every weekend.

Leon.. You need instructions. buy the belt for 50 bucks and change it yourself. not too hard. You won't need that many tools. Anything out of the ordinary, just go to a store and buy the tool(and return it). in the long run it may save you money to just buy the tools for next time. I rebuilt my car, every part on it rusted out and i had to replace most of the parts .

ah the days trying to remove those rusted on bolts and breaking the heads off, then grabbing the torch and trying to heat the bolt and remove it with the easyout (not so easy out). Then redrilling the whole and retapping it.

Just go to some no name guy and let him worry about that.

I've been thinking of it. I think I just need a timing gun. I just can't afford to not have a car in case I screw it up. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

But I've been meaning to find a shop manual and do it myself.

We all believe you in....Don't we folks. Umm on second thought maybe you should let them do it. Naa really it's not that hard. Just get yourself a manual like you said. I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone who worrys about working on their computer...You can't break anything that can't be fixed. It may cost more, but I am sure it can be fixed. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

well leon, I replaced the head gasket on my nissan pintara (prolly bluebird where you are) U12... and THAT took time.. but I managed... I paid about $150 (au) for the parts.. and the guy wanted to charge me $700 to do it for me...

Hey StarvingCollegeStudent, I've been wondering the same exact thing. I've been drooling over that junk for the last few years. I don't have any skills relevant to auto mechanics, but I have an interest in tools.

Well they do have to change a whole bunch of other things on the car like the water pump which is your drive gear and all the other belts that keep your engine going for another 60-100 thousand miles when they change your timing belt. Dealership work is guaranteed and done by ASE certified professionals so you can pray they do it wrong the first time so you can take em to court and pay nothing.
