I just got off the phone with my father and found out that my younger brother got royally screwed by his coach in the last day or two. This has me very annoyed.

My brother plays competitive tennis and is ranked fairly highly. He had offers from lots of different schools, ranging from complete free rides with spending stipends to offers from ivys to come play. For whatever reason he chose one of the offers, ostensibly because he liked the campus, he liked the coach, he liked the fact that there was good surfing there, and he had heard good things about the school. (I am not going to say which one)

Either way, the coach there told him at the beginning that he was not able to make any firm guarantees like other schools had, but that my brother would definitely be able to play and that he wanted him really badly. He then pushed my brothers application through (getting him in out of state), got him into athlete housing, athlete benefits, and a whole bunch of perks. All things that are only supposed to be included with the guarantee. He did everything to ensure that my brother ended up at his school and on his team.

Thus the fact that he just cut my brother from the team as well as 4 others who didnt have signed guarantees based on a revised budget is more than a bit annoying. My brother is a better player than the majority of the players he kept. The guy cut him simply because he never gave him the signed piece of paper, the focking bastich. If there was a signed paper I would already have been to the Court filing a nice little suit. On top of that, he told my brother that he could no longer even practice on the courts, so he basically just cut out his ability to keep his edge.

The coach pissed me off even more for two other reasons.

1) He actively persuaded my brother to go there compared to other schools which were better academically and quite possibly in sports The only nice thing is he offered to talk to the coaches at the schools where he had the other firm offers to have him transfer there now. (Dont think my brother will go for that)

2) My father, who is out visiting my brother, had emailed the coach prior to coming to invite the guy to dinner. From what I was told, it sounds like the email went out prior to the guy even cutting my brother. His response was something like I have no desire whatsoever to go out and have dinner and discuss anything with you. My father had not said anything about discussing anythng with him. It was before this had even happened talk about being an idiot and an arrogant arsehole.

Some people deserve to be shot.
