Well, I just got back from my first trip to the San Francisco Bay area, and I loved it there. From 93 degrees with 60% humidity in Austin to 65 and breezy in San Jose, I was ready to pack up my stuff and move permanently.

Spent a week in the area, including Monterey, Carmel, San Fran, San Jose, and Napa Valley. Saw great sites and had lots of good food, but for my simple college-student-budget tastes, nothing could beat In-N-Out. I've heard a lot about it, and I'm glad I finally got to experience it. Only problem is that they run kind of small for my Texas tastes. Still, not a bad deal. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You shoulda asked for the 4x4. Its two double doubles in one. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif Never tried ordering it myself, but In n Out has a secret menu. Try asking for the neopolitan shake. Animal style burgers rocks, with the grilled onions, and well done fries. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

you can get a 6x6 too, but i've only ordered that once, and i didn't even finish it; it was just such a daunting task. i love in'n'out though; it's far better than McDongald's or Crackhead in the Box.

oh yeah, and i am ashamed of not finishing the 6x6, but i can always finish off a 4x4 (no, i'm not fat; i weigh about 160 and am 6'2"). The best eating job i've ever seen was my roommate and his friend eating 12 double double between the two of them in an hour, and they're both thin and one of them is pretty short. Then one of them got drunk and lost it all...

well, had to give you the full story http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif. I've never been in this part of the forum before...i usually only go to the deals page, as most of you could probably tell by the density of my name in that place. Oh well. This part is more humorous and laidback http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/tongue.gif.

ps - i still acn't believe that my two thin chinese friends pounded 24 patties between them... (and i'm not racist, so don't worry; i just think it's an even more humorous mental image)

Very humorous...I was laughing out loud when I heard he "lost it" http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

You can order as many patties as you want. My friend (320 lbs) once order a 16x16 ad he finished it http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Now if that came out you could reassemble a cow appendage haha!

16x16!!!!!!!!!!! holy crap, how could someone eat that much cow?! That's just insane! Does anyone else feel a little bit guilty for killing off all of these bovines just to see if we can finish off their meat? Oh well.

ps - i can't even begin to process the thought of a 26x26 at the moment

Here's the secret menu:
http://www.uweb.ucsb.edu/~nbeinh00/menu.html

In-N-Out is crazy! In a good way.

The biggest burger ever cooked by In-N-Out was a 550 by 550, made at the Thousand Oaks store. It was made for a fraternity group from Cal Lutheran University. It took approximately 25minutes to cook and 20 minutes for the group of 17 to devour. It had one top and bottom along with dressing, lettuce, and tomatos on it.

Anyone living in Orange County ever heard of Alberto's, Alberta's, Alejandro's? (I think it's all the same owner trying to evade taxes because they all got the same menu) But they got the best carne asada burrito in SoCal, unless someone can prove me wrong...

I'm always up for a food challenge http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

hey, i used to live in Thousand Oaks; i used to support that In n Out almost by myself, and i was only like a freshman in high school. That town is a great place; it is ranked as one of the safest cities in america (it used to be number 1 when i lived there, but dropped down after i moved...i would've thought it would be the opposite. heh heh). When i grow old and have children, that is probably where i would like to raise them.

We have one of those up in Pomona. It's called Alberto's pretty much anywhere. They normally get and "F" from the health inspection which means its gotz ta be goooood!

Who cares about health inspections. If you've been to a foreign country, they probably would get ranked at like an M or maybe even a W from what I've seen.

Anywho, yeah they have awesome burritos! For $2.70 you could get a huge chicken burrito that fills up this 220 lb guys http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Damnit, now I'm hungry. Bastards. I gotta go on my diet and lose 20 pounds of fat and gain 15 pounds of muscle http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif

I live inbetween all of those landmarks! They have the best mexican food!

Strange though, they all have the same menus and are equally as deadly to your heart, but none of the places taste alike. Ever notice how the hot sauce is always a different shade of red?

I used to love In n' Out. I dunno, I guess you get jaded living in SoCal with all the terrific fast food. E-Z Burger is a literal carbon copy, right down to the Christian ownership (their bags say "We Love Jesus" right on them, while In n' Out have John 3:16 on the inner bottom rim of the cup.) I guess my friends and I also stopped going because you can get three Famous Stars for the price of one double-double. You get what you pay for, though...
Another reason I stopped is because once you go Fatburger, you never go back. I lived in Claremont, a good 42 minute drive from the nearest Fatburger. I am moving downtown now, so I'll MUCH closer. Now that's an eatery fit for a heathen. Jesus, I'm drooling. Going to wipe.

Yes, StarvingCollegeStudent, Alejandros has become a favorite of many of us here at UCI. Good food!
