I've had Charter Pipeline for the last couple of years. I get the 768 down 128 up (Silver) service.

It's been up and down a fair amount lately, but not enough to really complain about. Just enough to be a PITA. There are no other alternatives for broadband here, as I am too far away from a switch to get DSL.

Got a note from them today stating that they have completed "significant system-wide upgrades", and noting that I had "probably noticed some interruptions" recently.

Anyway, the note went on to say that I now have FREE 2 MB down speed (at the 768/128 price) until March, 2004 as a token of their gratitude. w00t!

A Broadband Reports speed test confirms this! :D

Nice...wish I had that...I have charter too and I have the Silver package as well. Anyway, I'm not a big fan of charter right now, but they do allow me to get cable TV for 10 bucks extra so i can't complain.

congrats for you mechmike0034

unfortunately, i had similar problems, but different results.

i was so fed up with the system being down. i called to get it cancelled. they said it would be done. three months later, they charged me for 3 months' service! i was furious. when i called, they said that they didn't have it in the records that it was cancelled, and since it wasn't in the computer, it must not have happened. they stood by their decision. i was so p.o.ed! finally, after talking to a manager. we "resolved" it by me only paying the last month. needless to say, i don't use them anymore.

It's actually a little shy of 128K. Not a big deal to me since I very seldom FTP and I don't game...

I don't do much file share either, especially lately...
