voice stream phones

I'm about to purchase a voice stream phone, but wanted to get some feedback if anyone has used this service already? Is it good or is it not even worth a second thought? I don't really feel like forking over a whole year of service if I can't get reception anywhere. Thoughts?

Voicestream's got pretty good service. I hear GSM technology is great, b/c you can use the same phone worldwide.
