Former VP Gore in Talks to Buy TV News Channel (http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/10/02/1064988342514.html)
Former US vice-president Al Gore is close to buying a cable television channel, which would enable him to launch a liberal news outlet to counteract the popularity of conservative stations such as Fox News.
Mr Gore, who lost to George Bush, and a group of investors are in talks to buy Newsworld International, now owned by Vivendi Universal, for $US70 million ($A102.3 million).
If Mr Gore succeeds, Newsworld International could compete with the Murdoch-owned Fox, which has unseated CNN as the most widely watched news channel in the US with a formula of brash talk shows mixed with hard news.
Reports earlier this year said Mr Gore was seeking financial backers for a liberal cable channel to help Democrats counter conservative media voices.

It would be so boring, nobody would even think of buying commercial time or bother watching. They would have to give the time away. :heh:
