I have come into the oddest anomoly ever. I am running xp with all the service packs and I have cleared browser cache manually as well as removed all cookies, but I still am unable to load google. This is really unnerving because I use google for almost everything. ANy ideas, I am pretty sure its not a campus DNS problem because I can load google from computer lab machines, any suggestions? or ideas, perhaps its simply something iv overlooked

Is it strictly a browser problem? (In other words...does it do it with every browser you've tried? Have you tried others?) If you're only using IE, try another browser. I'd highly recommend Mozilla Firebird; I bet if you try it you'll grow to like it a whole lot more than IE. And it's got a built in Google search bar. :thumb:
Just an idea...

yeah, it happens in any browser i'v used and i searched the hosts. txt file and havent been able to find anything. i used adaware as well as several antivirus programs. i am stumped. i may just switch to linux to avoid this problem cause its spyware most likely due to the registry changes iv found

Hi-all!
I came to the forums specifically to inquire about this problem. I can't use any of the search engines with the exceptions of dogpile and all the web. Which both suck in my opinion. I uninstalled explorer and reinstalled to no avail. I'm now running netscape which I just recently installed and I'm having the same problem. I was thinking this is a virus.

chosenfool than kyou very much
I really appreciate the help. I suspected qhosts as my problems closely resembled the symptoms, but the symantec scan didnt pick it up at the time of the problem and i settled for using netscape to do all my searching. you are truly a contributor to humanity lol thanks again

I ran the Brown University tool and I'm back searching on Google.
Thanks Chosen!
Much Luv to everyone!
