Good Monday Morning,,

This morning I was driving my lil civic to my daughters school and GUESS what?? I ran out of gas... THis is the first time it has happened to me so I was kinda freaked.. so we started to mile walk when an angel with messy hair ( my neighbor ;) ) stopped picked me up and dropped my child off and took me to get gas.. QUESTION?? Because the car is fuel injected, does running out of gas damage it??

Chosenfool ;)

Yup I so learned my lesson... People have warned me "go fill up your gas tank, or you will get stuck somewhere" my response "OH I'm okay, my lil civ will go about another 25 miles"

Yea right...

I would do the following, though: after you put fuel into the tank, turn on the ignition but don't crank it, you should hear the fuel pump hum for a few seconds. Turn off the ignition, cycle back to on, listen for the pump. Do this for a few times then try to start the car. If it doesn't start then do it one time between attempts.

Modern fuel injection systems will pre-pressurize the fuel system when you turn on the ignition (at least the German cars with fuel injection that I have owned have done that).

I thought this thread was gonna be about flatulence. :D

Anyway. Pump the gas pedal a couple times to get things movin' and you'll prolly be fine. If you're real scared check your owners manual.

It depends on how dirty your gas tank was. It's easy to clog the injectors because of the sludge at the bottom.

I'd suggest picking up a bottle of redline fuel injector cleaner (it's like $6 or so).

I ran out of gas in my car once, so I drove to the gas station. Go hybrid!
