I would really like to do this... but I have a hard time justifying taking a full day of work off just so I can watch 2 movies that I already own at home.

Maybe I will watch the extended versions of Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers on my home theater on the two nights prior to the release of Retrun of the King.

but there's something about a large movie theater screen....full of other geeks like yourself....sitting for 10 hours straight....

downing popcorn, hotdogs, and soda....

If I wanted to hang out with a bunch of dorks for 10 hours I'd go program at the lab. And it'd be free. Besides the uber-geeks are kind of scary. You know, the ones that dress like the characters and line up way early... more of a Star Wars thing than a LotR thing I suppose but still. Reminds me of the Conan sketch where Triumph the dog visits the Star Wars premiere. Triumph, gesturing toward a baby: "That's the last time he'll ever see female genitalia."

After a couple of hours I start to get a little stiff and sore so this would be out of the question. Seeing it on a big screen again would be cool. Best for me would be to see the three movies on three consecutive days. Otherwise it would be too overwhelming to take in and I would not enjoy it as much as I would like.

hmm... my question would my kids be able to do it.

They love the movie as much as donnie and I but could they stand to sit in a theater that long? Maybe with enough soda, candy and popcorn... Then there are the potty breaks...

who said anything about giving that to the kids??? :D

Nah, my kids are actually pretty good when it comes to movies. They are old enough to know better.

And besides, Audie, who is nine thinks Elijah Wood is a teenager and just thinks he is the cutest thing  and would watch the movie for 20 hrs just to see him

I heard that they are going to release a special edition DVD set that will have all three movies lumped into one super long movie. Anyone else hear this?

well...they can just continue to do what they're doing now....

first one was 2 dvd's.
second one was 2 dvd's.

I'm guessing that the third extended is 2 gonna be 2 dvd's

i'm sure that the dvd's weren't maxed out.....

so, expand it to 6 dvd's. that's where the changer comes in handy.
