I think doing business in the music industry makes you stupid.

No, Congress passing laws allowing companies to sue you for pressing the shift key is stupid.
Someone on Slashdot made an interesting point: "Pressing the shift key is not a violation of the DMCA. Telling someone to press the shift key is a violation of the DMCA."

i didn't read the article, but i'm assuming the subject says it all ... what's the point of cd protection then? why doesn't the RIAA sue the people who made "uncopyable" cd technology? wasn't that their job? obviously they failed.
maybe RIAA should go after microsoft because windows uses the shift key (and so does every other computer).
soon the RIAA will go after everyone who has a sound card and a line-out on their cd player :)

SunnComm, which trades on the Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board, said it has lost more than $10 million of its market value since Halderman published his report.
Pretty shaky company if any kid with a rudimentary knowledge of the Windows operating system can cost them $10 million...

Man the music industry is the joke and also the company, which makes the CD protection bull crap. With just a line-in on the sound card, you could capture all the songs that you want.

"In America today, scientists shouldn't have to fear legal action for publishing the truth. Based on the apparent weakness of its technology, perhaps SunnComm should be hiring more Princeton computer scientists, instead of threatening to sue them."
more people should think like that.

well since im in the music buisness (sorta), i've learned how hard it is to earn the slightest cent... ill admit i have a bunch of burnt cds but i buy the independent labels that no one will probably see on mtv or vh1 hence no cd copy, dupe, etc. ... anyway independent ones arent sounding too bad of an idea cuz of all this cd and corporate bull...:o

man, its always a good habit to TURN OFF Auto-Run in the device manager if you ever plan on burning CD's...
in fact, it used to be a common trouble-shooting practice for us at Creative Labs to tell customers to turn it off...
SHIFT Key does the same thing.
