my gf just got bck from hk, and i wanted to do something nice. so i decided to take her to the El Capitan theater (first time for both of us). i had to decide between normal tix ($16) or VIP tix ($25). with VIP, you're supposed to get:
no waiting in line
reserved seating
free popcorn
free drinks
i thought, this is for my baby, so i'm gonna splurge on the good stuff. so i got the vip tix...
day of event = get there 1/2 hour early, got our tix and started to enter theater. the tix "ripper" person told us that they were waiting for the people from previous show to clear out and they had to clean the theater. so we had to wait in line! but it was a "special" line for VIP guests (it was NEXT to the normal line) so we waited the same amount of time as everyone else. when we went in, i went to get our free popcorn/drink. it turns out it's PRE-PACKAGED popcorn. (meaning: cold popcorn stuffed in little promotional dispensers). my gf suggested to put some hot butter to warm it up. i went up to the butter dispenser and pressed...and out came a gelatinous goop of COLD butter. our seats were reserved, but they weren't that much better than the normal seats.
oh yeah, my gf was jet-lagged so she fell asleep through the whole movie.
so all in all, it was a great experience!
moral of the story: if you ever go to the el capitan, get the NORMAL tix.
