I am trying to network some XP systems up to play some old school Doom 2 over the IPX network. They dont seem to like the IPX protocol that XP has. Is there some way to load a retro driver or any other way to get this to work???

start ->programs ->accessories ->program compatibility wizard
Doom2 may only like a Win98 or maybe even a Win95 environment. You can set doom2 to the correct environment and (I assume since I haven't used it) it'll always configure the environment correctly when you run the game. Give that a try.

There was a Doom collection that came out a few years ago that was designed to work in Windows. That package may have a modified network detection that would work with Win's IPX. As for WC2 I know a friend who could not get the game to work in XP. If you want a cheap older RTS game I would suggest Total Annihilation. You could prob find that for $10 and a bargain bin somewhere.

Actually I have Total Annihilation which I like very much.
I will have to cehck out the Doom collection. Thanks!
Anyone seen Doom 95 for sale anyway? It was a Windows 95 version of Doom from ID software with a bumped up resolution, but I never found information on anything except for the demo. Maybe it is in Doom Collection?

I have the Doom 95 shareware, but I have never seen a full version of it where you can play custom maps.
