Yes, they suck big time. Install was on 7/13 and they still can't get the line up. ARGH, @!#$@#$ dialup is killing me. Get your act together.

I've waited on hold for 7 hours now in the last two weeks. Their own tech waited on hold for 2 hours when he was here at my place doing the install (we watched "The Matrix" together in its entirety while on hold). They still can't figure out how to get the line up or whose fault it is. They suck so hard it's genuinely amazing. I would love to get my hands on the person(s) responsible. I would roll my HP OfficeJet printer into an approximate cone shape and shove it where the sun don't shine. Then I'd string him up in front of our house with CAT5 cabling as a warning to all incompetent businesses. Yes, and my neighbors' kids would all pelt him with raisins and other nondairy products. Oh yes...

I can feel your pain, bro. I used to have such bad experience with GTE's DSL. The line was like down at least 2 weeks every month and the GTE tech almost came to my place everyday. The only good thing is now I have a really great relationship with every tech in my area. I have 4 ADSL modems which all work. They gave the modems to me 'cause they couldn't fix anything. It's like a compensated gift. Sorta. And the pager numbers for the tech so I paged them at 6P.M. when the line is down. Anyway~ Good luck w/your DSL.

Isn't PacBell's contract two years now? That's complete bull. Especially with the way their service is starting to fall behind GTE's miserable installation service.

PacBell now offers a free Compaq computer for 59.95 as monthle fee. GTE doesn't offer "free" installation now. They'd mail you a box of modem, filters, and instruction. You're on your own. =)

dsl is the biggest scam in america right now. go get yourself a cable modem! with a good modem it is just as fast and you arent going to have the same hassles with the cable co as you will with sbc. the cable that runs your cable access is on a well established network, the dsl lines everywhere are crap and sbc along with everyother telco is in such a rush to just get dsl available that they arent doing any repair work that is needed to keep everything working
