I was looking to buy a Canon 300D, and found this. In case some1 is also thinking of getting one:
One thing is they called me the next morning to "confirm the order". And I end up getting a few more items, since for some reason it was not listed on their site :P So maybe just order another one or two items in additional to the camera. One thing to expect is most likely you can bargain with the sales rep when they call. As on a couple things he offer to lower the price when I say that I was not really interested due to their price:
- 3 year warranty, $150 (they had it for $300). Which I think it's a good investment to guaranty my toy for 3 years :D
- UV filters, $24.99 ( I heard it's around $18-20 on the street)
-> maybe pay the full $24.99 on a couple to persuade them to ship the order right away.
- best price I seen so far on the Canon 420EX & 520EX flashes
I think it's a good deal, because I am sure I will be happy with the camera once I receive it =)
edit: remove the page link. Thanks for the heads up. I will give them a call and follow closely. So that it would not end up being 3 weeks plus to get an order. Even if I do, I will double check to make sure it's U.S. warranty.

Kinda weary of these grey market, bait-n-switch companies. They always like to call you up the next day to "confirm" your order. This is just their way of getting you to buy more stuff. Good companies like B&H, Adorama, OneCall never do this.
But anyway, I hope you get what you are promised and not a grey market. Make sure they give you a good UV filter, preferably something that is multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces to reduce flare and ghosting.
p.s. They are also Express Cameras. http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1805.html

Thanks Leon, I have been looking for a deal on the Rebel for a few days now and I may have jumped on this if I hadn't seen your warning.
No problem. There are so many of these types of camera stores around, it's just amazing. For good SLR cameras, you should definitely spent the extra money and go with a reputable dealer. I went through a pain-in-the-butt situation when I bought my first SLR. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company. Never again.

If they call you, they're scamming you. Trying to sell an extended warranty is the biggest in the photog business. Mack warranties actually won't cover most of the stuff they sell you them for (Nikon AFS and AF-S VR lenses, Canon USM and IS lenses).
Pay the bit more, get it from a dealer that is not going to sell your creditcard info to a shop in Taiwan or Singapore.
I have many thousands invested into Nikon gear and can honestly say that you can't beat B&H ( www.bhphoto.com (http://www.bhphoto.com) ) or Adorama ( www.adorama.com (http://www.adorama.com) ).
Safety is good. Oh, BTW If you're looking at the new Digital Rebel, make sure you hold it in your hands at a local store first and compare it to the others that are just above its price. There is a huge difference in quality, best to know what you are getting before you get it. If you're happy with it, grab it from a good dealer.
Cheers.

Go with ritz camera.... They have great service and have been around forever... Either that or have J & R pricematch. They're another fantastic dealer that's been around forever.

I called them yesterday. Was going to cancel it IF they had not ship it. But they when I got hold of the CS, and ask the first question for UPS tracking, they had a number. Was going to take you guys suggestion if they still have it on hold. So I end up thinking just wait until the package arrive.
So I will have 2 options:
1) When I get the package, how do I distinguish if the camera is grey market or not? I was thinking one way is call Sony and have them run a check on the S/N.
2) To return the order completely.
ps: I guess at least I won't get burn on the CC, since I use the Discover one-time use acct number generator.

the warrenty card from canon, would say
Canon International Warranty
Limited Warranty, Canon USA
grey market ones would not say Canon USA, and the only warrenty would be from the retailer..there is no such thing as international warrenty only.
For example for warrenty in europe, Canon Europe will recognize the warranty if either to buy it from a "Canon Europe" delaer or to buy in from an American retailer WITH the Canon USA warranty so the Canon Europe service facility extends a reciprocal warranty.
The good thing is that Canon USA will honor grey market warranties for cameras bought in the US.

This is true, Canon is good about warranty.
However, Alot of these shops will sell the cameras without chargers, batteries, etc, OR.... They replace them with 3rd party cheap ones and sell the OEM ones for more $.
Word to the wise: Buy with a credit card that has a great customer service group and will dispute the charges easily, just incase you get rolled.
