I've just started working out recently. I've also started tanning. AND I HATE THAT WHEN YOU FIRST START TANNING YOU GET UNCONTROLLABLY ITCHY! Like, right now, I seriously cannot stop twitching my body b/c it itches so much, and I can't scratch it b/c I'm typing with both hands. SERIOUSLY itchiness from a tanning bed SUCKS:bawl:

Camerobabe - do you want accelerated wrinkles and crow's feet? I can show you pictures of someone that Merlin and I both know who is your typical stunning scandanavian blonde. Even though she's in her late 20's, she is starting to look like she's 40ish thanks to being in the sun all the time.

Noooo . . . I'm all for a nice natural tan . . . but I think fake 'n bake is pretty gross. I can't believe people actually would want to do that to themselves.

Camarobabe . . . kick back and wait until the Summer when you can go out in a bikini after your winter of working out and earn a tan the right way! ;)

You'll "go" looking much older than you would had you not tanned regularly.

Being young-looking when older seems much more desirable than being tan-looking when young.

Hello. Had to throw in my experience with sun tans. My little sister who is now 27, was diagnosed with melanoma last year. It was at an advanced stage and due to this, there was a 40-50% chance that it had spread to other parts of her body. She had to immediately go in for surgery to remove lymph nodes from her leg to test for cancer. Luckily she came up clean. It was a huge wake-up call for me in tems of taking care of my skin. I found this information at skincheck.com (http://www.skincheck.com/) and is a startling reminder at just how prevalent this type of cancer is.

" Although it is rare in young children, melanoma occurs in every age group after puberty and is the most common cancer in young adults of ages 25-29. Among women of ages 30-35 the incidence is exceeded only by breast cancer. Overall melanoma is the 6th most common cancer in males and 7th in females. The U.S. incidence of melanoma now exceeds that of new HIV infections; 54,200 new cases were predicted in 2003. The incidence is currently increasing at an epidemic rate of more than 4% annually, higher than any other cancer. Most new melanoma patients have no family history of the disease; it can strike anyone regardless of health, physical condition, or skin complexion. On the average, there is a melanoma death in the U.S. almost every hour."

Thinking you might lose a loved one to cancer sucks...

If anyone knows anything about Pittsburgh, you will know that we didn't have any days over 90 degrees this year. And 75% of our days were rainy. So, this summer I got no tan. I am NEVER out in the sun. I DONT usually fake-bake b/c it's expensive, and pointless. BUT, in my career people need to look good, and despite the bad health effects, a sun tan MAKES you look good. Oh well. I don't plan on doing it forever. Once a week after I get my base tan. I'm indoors 24/hours day. thankyou

Try typing with one hand. I do it all the time and actually enjoy it. :eyebrow:

Its one of those,"I gotta do it even if it kills me" things huh? I understand. My wife actually ran off to get tanning session package for a month. i wasn't too crazy about because I'm concerned for her health, but some women just gotta do what they gotta do. :)

it's probably not the greatest thing, but i know how you feel. at some points, you just want a little tan and in some parts of the country it's about impossible to do it naturally.

in limited quantities, i don't think fake-baking will kill you. but limited quantities is the key word.
