I snagged one also. My 200GB drive is going to go great in this :)

I do believe the first rebate expired the 15th, and the second rebate expired on the 31st, so unless you ordered before 12AM central, the rebate processors might reject one or both. I'm staying out of this one.

Wish I knew about this earlier though, even with one rebate, a $300 computer would've been great for my sis :(

edit: I find it interesting how "YMMV" was dropped off the title when importing the deal to this forum ;)

All I know is they both showed up on the order confirmation I printed out, so D3ll can take that up w/ my credit card company if they want to :)

DaNewbie
11-01-2003, 02:40 AM
Well, the cc company wouldn't have much power when the rebate is processed and the processing company points to the order date and the rebate terms :o Thats what I don't like about rebates, you're never really sure if your money is coming back. Anyways, good luck with your purchase :)

btw, have you checked your order status? Apparently most people's order status only shows one rebate, and thats usually is what ends up on the packing slip. the "in production" link, that is.

Grey_Goose
11-01-2003, 02:51 AM
Sorry, I'm not a computer expert. Navigating to some obscure page to see the details of rebates that are clearly being offered on the front page of a deal isn't my responsibility. That goes double for the details only being made readily available *after* the order was placed.

My CC company is wonderful about disputes. If I dispute something, the onus is on the seller to prove the validity of the purchase, not on me to prove my dispute.

Ever consider that the guy in the other Forum added it AFTER I posted this, which is not uncommon over there??

Quit crapping on my thread. If you don't want in, that's fine, but don't harass those of us that are willing to roll the dice.

'Sides, if Dell shoots down the rebates, then I ship them back on their dime for messing up and displaying two on the order page.

FYI, my order status shows two rebates and is in production.

YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary.

Usually refers to B&M deals where you might have to go to a few different locations to get the deal to work.

In this case it means the deal may or may not go through. If it doesn't you return the machines to Dell at their expense or keep them since $300 still ain't a bad deal for this machine.

The reassuring part of this is that on the Order Details the rebates have distinctly different product codes. It's not a repeat of the same rebate. Hey, the 200GB rebates came through right? Glad I jumped on that one. (And my friend who didn't know he ordered one too :) )
FYI Dell is shipping Fast! I ordered a similar system for a client last week, which I customized on the order, and it still landed at my doorstep here in Portland, OR two days later!!! How the heck did that happen?
Kewl!

I don't like integrated video card with no AGP slot available. The 400SC ($310.xx) is a much better deal.

Just call 'em up and tell them that you ONLY bought it because THEY advertised two rebates. Tell them if they won't honor their advertising then they should give you a shipping label to mail it back. It's unlikely that they would give you any grief since they created the confusion in the first place.

Do what I did w/ a damaged recliner Foley's shipped me...

Call them, tell them you've declined the credit card charge, & that they need to make arrangements to pick up their trash. Letting them know what day your neighborhood garbage truck comes by tends to give them a sense of urgency :)

They did with a $100 and $200 on my 2.53 Ghz machine from earlier in the year.

Somebody said the rebates were expired, but where did you see that?

I don't even see those rebate numbers on the dell4me rebate site. The numbers are 44xxxx and the highest number I see on the rebate site is 42xxxx. I think these are valid rebates, and they are on my order form. =)

I'll fight for it.

If you click the "$100 OFF - Online Only! With mail-in rebate." link under "special offers" on the first page, it has the rebate link, and at the bottom of the page it says:

"Rebate Terms and Conditions

Dell Home Systems Mail-In Rebate offer valid only with eligible new U.S. Dell Home Systems ordered between 10/09/03 - 10/15/03 11PM CT."

Good luck on your purchase :) With the raw amount of people that are surely ordering this, the PR factor of this deal sure has the odds in your favor now. But I'm going to sit this one out and see how dell reacts, I think it should be pretty entertaining

Will the motherboard in the 2400 handle a faster P4 chip? or 800Mhz FSB? or Hyperthreading? (My assumption is No to all three, otherwise they would have offered it as an upgrade right?)

It also does NOT have an AGP slot correct? Are there any "Gaming" level video cards that are PCI? By gaming I just mean they can handle texture and lighting and stuff. I don't know of any because the only graphics cards I've purchased in the last 2+ years have been AGP.

The price is right either way, just wanted to know more. Anyone have a pic of the motherboard and case?

-Evil Lord Drewcifer

Looks like the ATI TECH RADEON 7500 64MB PCI might be an option...

I mentioned this on FW & no one seemed to care...

There were one or two people that questioned the High Speed Internet option, so I started staring down the order...

Found this line item on my order:

Informational Only - High Speed Internet Billed Seperately

Comments, thoughts? Seems suspicious to me.

Actually, I replied to that question on FW. It doesn't matter. Dell Home offers high speed internet service with system purchases routinely these days. Just like they offer surge protectors. It doesn't mean anything.

Hope this helps.

ok well i think this is gonna work...i went to my order status and checked the order details then scrolled down and here's what it says next to the 2 rebates:
$100 MAIL-IN REBATE 44102-----> Redeem your rebate after purchase at dell4me.com/ rebates
$100 MAIL-IN SYSTEM REBATE 44101-----> Redeem within 30 days of ship at dell4me.com/rebates
so i think it will work since they both have something different next to them

I tried clicking on the rebate link just to see the rebates so I could print them and the link isn't working. I just placed an order. Hopefully it works. I got that $26 200gb hd by staying up late and checking gotapex. Man I love G|A.

The 200MB hard drive was a previous Dell deal that is long long gone.

Does anyone know why the description of this particular deal has now vanished from the gotapex deals page? It was the lead story on Saturday and Sunday, but seems to have been pulled.

Um... maybe G|A got yelled at or were worried about getting yelled at by Dell. I could see this happening if it was a mistake on Dell's part that got exploited so now they'd be pissed. The deal is now dead anyway. Gratz to all that got in on it. :D

Well, my order status changed to shipped today. People in the other forums are already receiving theirs WITH both rebates listed on the packing slip (which is what you mail in with the rebate forms for proof).

hey, i got my computer today and have both rebates listed....but how do i send the form...i mean do i fill 2 out and send them or will one do? i went to site and it says--->NOTE: Only one form is required to redeem all rebates listed on your system packing slip. If you purchased a Software and Peripheral item that appears on a separate packing slip, please submit separately.
but i want to make sure if i need to send a note or something...thanks

Joshua

I'd just follow the directions you posted but would also include a not saying there are two rebates IN BIG LETTERS. They'll prolly still mess it up, but a phone call to them will fix it. I've done it before. It's not a huge dilema, just don't freak when you check the status and it only shows one rebate at first.

P.S. Make copies of EVERYTHING you send them. In case they conveniently "lose" anything. Then you'll be able to fax them the copies as proof.

i just called Dell and they said that Dell would not honor both rebates because it was a typographical glitch (it is in the small print at the bottom of the ordering page) and they will only honor one...Is anyone else getting this?

I talked to customer chat on the 3th and they confirmed that both rebates were good. I sent email that night asking them to confirm and place a note in my account (suggested earlier in this thread). I received confirmation that said note has been attached to my account.

So at this point I would be pissed if they tried to backtrack on the deal.

ok to those who doubt the $200 rebate....i wrote this email to them yesterday...
"hi, i talked to someone on the phone and they told me to make sure i write you guys an email about the system i ordered and to let you know about the two rebates you said to mention so i can get both credit back...they told me to make sure you make a note in my account...thanks"
and this is what they wrote back...
"Thank you for contacting Dell ONline Customer care. i apologize for any inconvenience caused. i checked the details of your order and show that you are eligible for a $200 mail in rebate. these rebates are not automatically generated and have to be requested by the customer with in 30 days from date of shipment. please follow the steps given blow to avail the mail in rebate."
