Just wondering if it is a good deal for that or if it is just cool.

seen it go for cheaper on Ebay. They say it works pretty good. The only 2 negative comments about it is the storage capacity for debris and its charge time. Hope this helps.

The Got|Apex review (http://www.gotapex.com/reviews.php?rev=misc/roomba/p2.html) of the Roomba gave it an 8.5/10.

I read on Amazon from Customer reviews that it does a so-so job on carpeted floors. My entire house is carpeted except the kitchen. I'm hesistant in purchasing it.

I got the Pro Elite two weeks ago, I got a great deal, I used my Discover Card points so it cost me 1/2 price, $130 plus tax but it took me years to collect enough points. I LOVE IT! My wife thought it was a gimmick but she is pleased to come home to a vacuumed family room and kitchen. I have a central vacuum system, nothing can beat that for vacuuming but this thing extends our normal vacuuming to probably weeks instead of vacuuming every week. I agree with the Gotapex review, it is an easy 8 1/2. The only thing I disagree with is "I do not see it as a must have" because I see it as a must have. I will let it roam upstairs where my kids bedrooms are at least once a week. I find the remote useless, no need for it. What I want to buy next is the robot lawnmower.

There are outlets throughout the house, to vacuum, just plug the 30 foot hose into the wall outlet. Very powerful and quiet. I have a Beam, here is a description of how it works http://www.beamvac.com/products/product_how_a_CVS_works.htm
I returned my Roomba to Hammecher Schlemmer (sp?). I have a small apartment so I thought it would be perfect. But, it ended getting caught up in a groove in one spot. Only plus I experienced was the entertainment value w/ my cats!

Sounds Like it is a fun toy to play with, and not a helpful household accessory. I was hoping to hear that it really picked up well, since most of the debris on my carpet is cheerios/popcorn/kitty litter from my toddlers. I guess I better stick to the conventional solutions. Let me know if anyone has found it amazing since I would love to have one, but can't justify it yet.
