I've used download accelerator once or twice, but it has a bunch of spyware. I need a new one too.

I've tried some of the Firebird download-manager extensions and none of them really impress me. All of them add one extra mouse click, which is annoying. I'm all about efficiency!

I used Flashget but not anymore. Now I just use the browser.

Some ages ago I used Go!zilla (my son used to hate the sound when a download finished!), but once I joined the cable-modem camp, no need. I once did a 1GB download. :D

In theory, yes. In practice, not so much. The files usually go really slow but you can find lots of things. If you have a computer just laying around doing nthing (like me) you can install bittorrent on there and have it download your file over a few days or so.
