okay... dont laugh... but i ahve never accually sold something on ebay... not sure if i want to or not. but dont they charge a certain % of the total sale as a commmision and how exactly do you work the cost of shipping into the price of the auctioned item. just wondering.

yes they charge a %, it varies on how much you sell the item for. there are other options that can cost money too.

for shipping, if you don't want to guess at a flat rate, put that shipping will be determined after the sale. be prepared for emails saying "how much is shipping to 27510".

why would you sell that on ebay? such a pain to ship, regardless of price etc.

sell it locally.

when i shipped via UPS, it came out to about hundred bucks for both monitor and tower. i even got insurance for a couple of bucks. of course, they broke both, and then claimed i didn't package them right (well, i didn't expect them to play soccer with the boxes), and refused to pay up on my insurance.

so my advice?
- don't ship UPS, they're evil.
- if you have it, ship in the original packaging, and make sure all packaging follows the shipper's guidelines exactly, to the number of inches on each side to the type of filling.
- get insurance, document everything, and pray

Unless you have the original boxes for the monitor and the PC, you may as well try to sell the individual components, as it is easier to ship.

Otherwise, sell it locally or just keep the monitor and computer. You could always donate it and take a tax write off.

hmm
yeah maybe i will sell it locally after hearing that and think about it

well as it goes my folk have a fairly nice pc and what
happened is that they burnt up the power source, brought it back to BB where they got it from and BB told them that the type of power source designed for that machine is no longer made by the manufacters and they would need a whole new system, much to my protest that they just needed to replace the power source and i would even do it for them they siad that they have the money, no big deal, they would just buy a new one.

so i told them to giveme the old one and they agreed.
so im going to replace the power source and resell it.
hope fully get some rent money since i am still opuitaa work.

o well tahnkx for the input

btw people set shipping as a way to get more money out of the deal. Most of the times they are no way accurate to what shipping actually costs.

Dealsonic.com has many cheap (and surprisingly good) power supplies. Try posting computer on craigslist.com. I sold a laptop there.
