Well, it's been about a month since the Opt-Out list sort of became official. Have you noticed your phone not ringing as much?

It seems like I haven't been getting as many calls.

I heard that news item, too. That's what got me thinking about this.

Why don't they have a company call everyone and ask them?

I actually don't know, because I don't have a landline in my house.

The ****ers would call my dorm room every morning at 8:30 a.m. I put the number on the do not call list and within about a week I stopped getting calls.

I still get a lot of calls. Thay always start out "I am responding to a request you made recently regarding....".
From what I understand, that's how they are protecting themselves.
With that tactic, I DEFINITELY hang up before they make their shpiel(sp?):P

I would be tempted to let them talk until you find out who/what they are representing, then inform them that they have violated the "do not call" list and you will be passing the information on to the appropriate agency.

Sorry, but hanging up is a lot easier and quicker.

I signed up for the Pennsylvania list which went into effect months ago. It has worked pretty well, but the ****ing political calls the past three days have been maddening.
