First of all, you kids don't know what bug butt headphones are.
Koss Pro 4AA, now those were some BIG BUTT headphones:

They hug your head like a big padded vice grip. Louder than a 747 jet.

oops... i didn't see the pictures so i thought "regular padded" was actually the "big butt" ones. i prefer big butts.
i hate earbuds because i have small earholes and they never freaking fit. you'd think they'd start making them in different sizes... oh, they sound like crap too.

although I like the earbud ones for travelling, especially the ones with the squishy moldable silicon that you shove in your ear canals.

I like my streetstyle ones from sony, but when I was doing DVD pre-production we used the big-butt style.
I have a set of Sony MDR-RF975R's that I use for watching TV. They're big-butts and cordless. Sound quality isn't bad but they could be better. I got them because I needed them to be cordless and my kids make so much noise at times that I can't enjoy watching movies. They're not as heavy and klunky as the hearing protection I wear when I go to the range, though.

I use big butts. Kenwood KPM-610 to be exact. I was at Good Guys a few years ago and was trying on a bunch and listening to them. I was looking to get some Senns, but these things were the best sounding ones for the best price. Kinda more expensive then the low end Senns, but much less then the high end Senns. These have a built in volume control and a 10 foot cord These have impressed me very much.

Here is my big butt! Although it is light-weight, overtime it puts pressure on the neck. Overall, the sound is great.

Another vote for the Grados. Outstanding.
And here's a cool story about the Koss 'phones kb0wwp mentioned:
I bought a set of these in 1979. They survived my college years, my marriage :| , my kids' and animals' gnawing at 'em, and countless moves. And they just kept on keepin' on.
Early this year, the headband finally fell apart, so I called Koss to see what it would cost to have them repaired. They told me to send the phones to them with a check for $6.00. A few weeks later, my phones were returned *completely refubished*. No further charges.
That's what I call customer service.
