having a problem with a video

Ok... so I've been downloading Rurouni Kenshin shows from the web because I am not home to see them on cartoon network. Anyways, some of the videos that I've downloaded won't give me a picture. The sound works fine but instead of getting video, I get a bunch of colors all over the screen. Is there some program that I need to get these videos to show. It doesn't happen to all of the videos that I download, just some of them. Please help. Thanks.

They might be encoded with different codecs.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean that I should download a program to deal with that, or is it just a settings thing. Also, is there a way that I can tell which codec it is?

DL and install the Nimo CODEC pack. It contains all the major CODECs you will need.

I have Nimo, K-Lite, Divx, and XDiv codecs installed in my computers.
