Do you own cufflinks? Have you ever worn them? Do you even know what they are or what kind of shirts you would use them with?

I have worn them, and I do own a pair...but the ones I've worn other peoples more then I've worn my own. I usually wear them with a tux shirt. I mostly wear them on special occasions

I don't own a pair of cufflinks, but when I purchase a tuxedo I will purchase a nice set to go with it.

:)

I have a pair. I used to wear them at a job I had in STL back before the kids were born...
I haven't thought about them in a while. I wore them with a tux shirt, but you can buy a lot of dress shirts that cufflinks are required. I personally love them. It's a very classy touch.

I don't own any cufflinks, but I have worn them: once, and that was to prom. They're mostly a tuxedo thing... some tuxedo shirts don't even have the sleeve buttons, so cufflinks are a must. But yeah you don't need them for a suit, just a tux.

I own two pair. They make any suit look really sharp, NOT just a tux. Usually the shirts that come with the cuff link holes are of a higher quality than regular dress shirts. I like them cuz they usually come in heavier material.

Chicks dig thick cotton dress shirts with sharp cuff links. Kinda James Bondish, ya know?

Cufflinks are for French cuff dress shirts. I own several pair and don't consider myself dressed in a suit without them. They are much like jewelry on a woman, they complete the total look. Nothing worse than button cuffs with a suit. They are not only for tuxedo's, they define your look. That being said, it's probably cuz' I'm older than most folks around here, 52, but that's how I was raised. A bit of advice for the younger guys around here.... it does set you apart from the rest of the cattle in the herd, and that does matter... if you get my drift.

I don't own any cufflinks. The only time I used them was at my wedding with the rental tux.

I'm glad that some people realized that you wear French Cuffs with them. I have worn them a few times, but always borrowed them from my father or step-father. It was one of the ideas I came up with for a "different" groomsmen gift.

However, I came up with a few problems with this idea. First off, everyone is going to have different styles and as such would want to pick out their own cufflink. Second, I didnt think that most people wore them anymore, which is the original reason for the question. Finally, in my opinion very few people own French Cuff shirts anymore. Thus, such a gift would necessitate them buying new shirt or letting the gift collect dust.

Plus every pair that I pick out is more than I wanted to spend on the groomsmen gifts.

i have a pair of cufflinks. i typically wear them with a tux, although i do have one french-cuff dress shirt that i pair them with.

as to what Ace said, i think some people can pull it off, and i think it also depends on the occasion. basically, if you do it in the wrong way or the wrong context, you can come across as a pompus ass. i think an older person can definitely do it with no problem at most any time, but a younger guy needs to make sure he's not going to appear snotty with the french-cuffs and links.

Well then,,, think younger and make yourself some links outta old old ram chips or something. I'm sure there are some "younger inspired" cufflinks out there,,you just gotta find them. I doubt your comment about "pompous ass" tho'.. unless you wear them on a t-shirt. Showing my age again, but as ZZ Top says... "Every girls crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man....."
