Maybe affirmative discrimination is needed for elections too? (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-3358892,00.html)

Democratic challenger for lieutenant governor Barbara Blackmon, who is black, said Thursday that her race is the reason she lost to the white Republican incumbent.

``It is my belief as well as the belief probably of over 300,000 voters of this state that if my pigmentation were different, I would be the lieutenant governor of this state,'' Blackmon, a state senator, said during a news conference at her campaign headquarters in Jackson.

Blackmon won 37 percent of the vote to 61 percent for Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck, according to unofficial returns.

Her comments were greeted with loud applause from those gathered for her first public appearance since Tuesday's election.

--------------
Hey at least her opponent was a woman. Blackmon can't use being a woman as the reason for her crushing defeat.

Note to Barbara Blackmon: people don't like sore losers. {for examples see the 2000 Presidential election and 1994 Maryland gubernatorial election}

Sore loser. Dumb idiot. She gives blacks a bad name. If you really want to pull out the race card, at least do it in a situation that's believable. Well, thank goodness she didn't win. Would you really want someone in the 2nd most powerful post in the state that says, "it's da man keepin' me down"?

Please. :rolleyes:

Did you know that the toothbrush was invented in Mississippi? Anyplace else it would have been called a "teethbrush".

That's a stupid excuse for losing. She lost because she can't capture the votes not because 61% of the pple are racists. :shrug:
