So what's it going to be this year, folks? Last year (from what I remember), those mini-RC cars were a hot item. Bratz maybe?
As much as I hate thinking (or being forced to think about) Christmas before Thanksgiving, what will the hot toys be this holiday season? Any ideas? Any insider information?
I'd love to be able to stockpile some toys right now and sell them for a hefty profit on Ebay in about a month. :P

i've been closely monitoring the situation, and i have yet to see any clear candidates for sold-out madness.
in this house, the hot toy is mighty beanz. the rare ones sell for $10 each on ebay... eg has several of those... i have a philisophical problem with ebaying them and making him play with the common ones.
my philosophy will be out the window if we happen upon the $250 mighty moose bean, tho...

tickling you 7 years ago was as hellish as it is today. I can't image anyone paying you to play with your toy. :disa:

Video Now is supposed to be big.
Neopets are another
The Fur-real animals again
The new Elmo -- does the hokey pokey
But I have seen a lot of gaming systems, store brand toysets, RC cars, barbies/brats being sold and layawayed also.
Haven't seen anything that "won't stay on the shelves" just yet.
Wtf is this mighty bean thing? I just looked them up, its like a big horse pill, do they do anything?

the capsule is hollow, and has a metal marble inside, so as the marble rolls down a track, they flip end over end. they're cool. eg has 34 different ones, and knows all their names... actually, it's rather scary. i'm beginning to think he's autistic. he can walk into the room, see his pile o beanz, say that one is missing, and after about 20 seconds, tell me which one it is.
they sell racetracks for em for $30 (not available in the us yet... you can buy them from australia and sell them on ebay for a small profit)
i'm building eg (yeah, uh, it's for him) a massive mighty beanz racetrack... for $30 worth of dowels, nails, liquid nails, a new drill bit, and plastic tubing. it'll be 4 feet tall, on an 18inch by 4foot base, with at least four different tracks that go up and down and all around... crazy. and he is not yet old enough to think my homemade stuff looks ghetto. i'll post a pic when it's done :D
oh and did anyone notice that the white-trash fist-fight inducing toy of twenty years ago is BAAA-AAAACK...
cabbage patch dolls!

hehe... mighty beanz series one is about to be gone, series two has arrived (with cool stuff like glow in the dark beanz!!!)
so, i have bought 5 three-packs (which seem to have more rare beanz :hmm: ) and two 6-packs which i am going to sit on... mighty beanz will only become hotter... and in a few weeks, all series one will be gone... and then i will ebay mine... unopened packs at massive profit!! bwahahahahahaha!
i suggest doing the same. it's almost a sure thing.
and if it's not, imma open the sumbitches and play wif em.

I think the toy for this season will be XMODS (http://www.xmodsrc.com) from Radio Shack. All the little kids that got the mini-rc cars last year have grown and are ready for the next level.

CNN.com has a Top 10 list (http://money.cnn.com/2003/11/18/news/companies/nrf_toys/) of hot toys for both boys and girls. The stats come from the National Retail foundation, so I guess this is an indication of actual sales to date.

I saw an armored Elmo in Toys'R'Us the other day. Well, they tried to cover the armor plating with fake, red fur, but that sucker was a brick. :2far:
