Just got this letter sent to all users at work from the CFO:
To all staff:
As you all know, the Internet and all of its capabilities have become a prominent part of our operations at the XXXX. From electronic mail to research to our own web site, connectivity to the Web has become an integral part of our everyday operations.
Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in the amount of traffic on our Internet connection. At some points, it appears to have slowed communications because of the volume of traffic across the connection. If this trend were to continue, it could impact our ability to utilize the connection most efficiently in the conduct of the XXXX’s business.
Just like any other resource, it is important that we use our Internet connection as efficiently as possible in the conduct of our business and, in addition, that we have the information necessary to make the appropriate decisions about managing this particular tool of our operation. Accordingly, we are in the process of installing software that will be able to monitor and analyze all the traffic on our Internet connection both incoming and outgoing. We expect this will be in place by tomorrow morning.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us manage this resource appropriately.
