Okay, so I've been using MaxBlast for years to do low level formatting by booting to floppy.
Got a new laptop, no floppy. Is there a low level formating program out there avail. on cd? My searching is coming up empty.

See if your BIOS supports booting from a USB floppy and if so pick one up for $30.
May I ask why you need to low level format a drive in a new laptop? I haven't low level formatted anything since my MFM/RLL drive days. ;)

Use UltimateBootCD. Go to the site and download the free program. The downloaded program enables you to burn a bootable ISO cdrom disk that has all the hard disk utility programs. You can do this with a burning program such as Nero or Roxio. Read the website for more information. This ISO disk is bootable from a cdrom drive. The cdrom drive must be bootable in the bios. Load the CD and reboot your system. When the boot screen loads it may ask if you want to boot from the cdrom. Select yes. The CD will boot into a dos program where you can select from more than 10 utilties including the Hard Disk programs from Maxtor, Seagate, and Hitachi. You can use the Maxtor PowerMax utility to perform a Quick or Full low level format on just about any brand hard disk. Hope this helps.
