Somehow my parents computer will not let me log into windows. When the computer starts it loads up the screen where all the logins should be but it doesn't ahve any logins. It just has a blue screen with the Windows XP logo on it. I have to recover some important documents from the My Documents folder from this computer. I was thinking I could take the Hard Drive out of that computer and put it in this computer and access the files that way. However, the folders will be private and the NTFS file system probably won't let me access them. Is there a way that I can retrieve these files?

Did you try hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL-DEL at the empty screen to get the older style login prompt?

You might be able to login as Administrator that way.

If you don't know or can't remember the Administrator password, there are recovery tools out there. PM me if you want a link.

Yep I tried it, no luck. Also attempted booting through safe mode.

Did it ask for a password or did it just do nothing?

Anyway check your PMs.

Sequiro do you use Winternals to recover the password? Would you mind PM'ing me the link as well?
