View Full Version : SS: UPS and Crazy EBay Buyer

1.5 weeks ago I placed a time sensitive item on sale on EBay. The date the item had to arrive was Monday December 1, 2003. The winning bidder purchased the item via the "Buy It Now" function on Monday November 24th and promptly paid me via Paypal.

As it was clearly stated in my auction, "Item will be delivered via UPS 2nd Day Air" So, on Tuesday Nov. 25th I dropped off the item with the UPS guys here at work and the item was in transit that night.

On Wed. Nov 26th, Fri. Nov 28th AND Mon. Dec 1st (8:47am) UPS attempted delivery to the recipient and nobody was available to sign for the package so naturally UPS left a notice and would attempt redelivery.

Last night at 9pm I receive an email from the person who purchased the item and he asked for his money back because he never received the item by Monday. I followed up with the UPS tracking and noticed that they had attempted delivery 3 times. I replied to the person asking him to call UPS to see if they will pay out the insurance (which I know they won't since they did attempt delivery 3 times) and I would gladly reimburse the guy. This morning when I arrived to work, I had another email again asking me to rectify the situation.

1) I clearly stated the item would be shipped via UPS 2nd Day Air and that is what the person PAID for.
2) I shipped the tickets on Tuesday, and delivery was attempted on 3 consecutive business days including the day of the event.

I'm pissed off because this guy isn't going to stop bothering me about getting his money back, even though I have no control over when he's home to accept the package. Also, i KNOW he is going to leave negative feedback. I delivered the goods promptly and they WOULD have arrived 5 days before the event, but he either wasn't home or didn't go pick it up from the UPS hub.

dayum that sucks. tell him to yell at his ups guy or something, but it's out of your hands. you did exactly what you said you would....I'm sure if paypal or ebay receives a complaint, they'll side with you. make sure you save local copies of everything before it disappears from ebay's and ups's servers.

If he leaves negative feedback, you can explain in the "comments" line what happened. You can also leave a negative feedback for him.

If he's too lazy to go to the UPS hub, that's his problem.

I think he is looking for a way to avoid getting a negative feedback. This guy is clearly retarded, offer him a small percentage back like 10%.

The whole point of the feedback system is for:

Did the seller ship the item as advertised: Yes I did.
Did the buyer pay the correct amount? Yes he did.

I already left positive feedback the day I received payment.
I did ship the item as advertised and UPS did try getting it to him, so I am obviously clear of blame.

I haven't heard from the person all day, so I assume he has spoken with UPS and has realized that he has absolutely no case against me. I stated the shipping method in my EBay listing. I shipped to his Paypal Confirmed Address and have a tracking number.

Don't be afraid of the negative. Do your best, and if the buyer is pissed off and leaves a negative, so be it. Add your comment and move on. I've bought from many sellers with negatives before. You have to take the good with the bad.

After I explained to the buyer that UPS would not pay out on the insurance, he didn't respond for 2 weeks so I assumed he realized that it was his fault. I received an email today and he said he spoke with UPS and they said they would pay out on the insurance. Apparently he found the one CSR who was willing to violate their insurance policies. I told him to have that CSR call me, because I just tried again and they gave me the same reason:

"We attempted delivery 3 times. We did not lose nor damage the package, therefore you can't collect on insurance"

I agree with UPS, but this stubborn a$$ is really starting to annoy me with his constant emails about this person said that and that person said this.

whats your rating? if it's prolly 50+, ignore him.

you shouldn't be responsible for someone else being an idiot. i would call UPS back, with tracking ##, and explain the situation and tell them NOT to give back his money. i highly doubt he will get back to that CSR AND have that CSR call you back. if he gives you negative feedback, the 50+ rating will pad it. and just give an explanation, i don't think yo ucan post links, maybe say "contact me for more info" if it comes down to that.

you got your money and you did your end of the deal, drop him and never communicate with that person again.

I've got a 134 rating. My last bad rating was some guy who won my auction but didn't pay me. He left me negative feedback saying: "seller said he ship after i win"

my response: "where's my money?"

What's the problem? You sold him an item and sent the merchandise in a timely manner. He failed to pick up the item and in doing so his action reduced the value of the item. Reduced the value of his item.
He chose not to go to the event by not arranging pickup of the tickets. It's just the same as if he got the tickets and decided not to go.

Tell the guy that you are sorry that the tickets did not work out for him, but you lived up to your part of the bargain. Why should you be out the money when he failed to take care of his business?

This guy is a loser he will give up because it's what he is good at.
