I think I just got my first copy of it on my home computer... but the subject line was Jesus luvs u.. and has an attachment from someone I've never heard of (or at least don't remember.)
My mailserver for my web hosting biz isn't having too many probs yet but I know a LOT of mailservers are down. A friend emailed me from GE saying they were having big problems over this.
Why do jerks have to do this kind of crap?

By 10am we had 4 employees hit from 4 different sources (a news server, a college professor, Compaq, and a customer site) - considering that it started only this morning in Hong Kong thats a damn impressive rate of growth.
I'm atributing it partly to the growth of broadband - at 28.8 you'd notice 50 15k emails going out, but with RoadRunner/etc. you can spam the world in a couple seconds...

Got hit at work. IT took care of it quick. But once in a while another idiot opens it again and it goes to everyone. At least we know who the idiot is....
I Guess they do not read the emails that say READ FIRST!!!

well it got my company also. According to a friend it is "a very poorly scripted virus." he even offered me a copy of the script itself. like I want that. Well it has been a fun day in virusworld of IT. Now I get to deal with the aftermath of the clueless tomorrow.

So far so goo here at Creative Labs inc. (in Oklahoma)... no probs yet. about a month ago we had a CIH epidemic, (on all the network drives running Novell... didn't affect the servers but anyone accessing the drives got nailed.) MIS finally got rid of it (for good I hope).
Looks like they took some precautions this time....

Nanotech9: Creative Labs you say, hmmm could you get me a good deal on a 3d card? http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
My mailserver is up and running quite well. But I distribute Netscape 4.7 to all the users so very few people were hit. Probably only 10 or 20.

Sorry guys. I (or anyone else working here) can't purchase stuff on employee purchase for re-sale. I'd get fired for it http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif
Anyways, our "employee prices" aren't any lower than you can find stuff on pricewatch.com http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif
I've only bought one thing on employee purchase - my 4224 CD-RW... Works great if you know all the tricks http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Just got a brainstorm... What better way to promote Creative Labs than to give away a product once in a while... I can't make any promises, and it probably won't ever happen, but I'll talk to some people about the idea.

well, depends on the product... we can't always get everything on employee purchase. just depends what they want to offer for the month.
usually runs between $0 and $25 cheaper than you can find on Pricewatch. Sometimes more. Example, I paid $130 + shipping + taxes for my 4x CD-RW on employee purchase right after it was released... total was about $145, and it retailed for about $160.
(I hope I'm not breaking any legal binding by disclosing that info... had to sign all kinds of stuff when I got hired. )

yeah ask if you can submit products to gotapex for reviews and for contests every once in a while. GotApex could endorse creative products.
and once every couple of months you could give me a little something too http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
