View Full Version : Unable to view any streaming files in wmp

What the title says. I haven't been able to load any streaming media files (.asf, .asx, .etc) since a few days ago. The thing just says "Buffering" forever. Didn't change any settings and I don't think I downloaded anything weird. Suggestions? Thanks.

Check your firewall settings. If you're behind a university network firewall, you may have a hard time because it could be blocked. If it continually says "Buffering..." (the word that should be RealPlayer's slogan), then it's either a problem on their server end or on your end. If you've tried several clips that don't seem to work, it's probably on your end. If you're running a router at your house, check your router's settings for the firewall. You can also place yourself in the DMZ on a lot of firewalls and get access to things you don't usually otherwise have access to.

Damn, I think the college did something weird with the firewall or whatever. My roommates can't stream media either in wmp. It's forcing me to save target as whenever I want to view a mpeg or avi file.
