S: Dell tech support

My power supply fan is making some racket in my dell, so I gave them a call:

dell: "how can i help you today?"
me: "My power supply fan is making all kinds of noise"
dell: "how do you know it is the power supply fan?"
me: "i stuck a pen into the power supply fan and the noise quit"
dell: are you sure its the power supply fan?
dell: let's make sure its the power supply fan, have you tried stopping the processor fan?
dell: what other troubleshooting steps have you tried?
me: "i kicked the computer and the noise didn't stop"
me: "i shut it off and the noise stopped"
me: "i turned my music on and it kind of covered the noise up"

dell puts me on hold

he comes back:
dell: let's do one more step to eliminate other sources of the problem.
me: Uhm, okay
dell: open you case, and unplug the processor fan
me: WTF? And i explained the process of troubleshooting to him.

Blew my mind.

Just set the phone down for a minute, take a few swigs of beer, then pick up the phone again and say "OK, I tried it. It didn't help."

I thought dell was suppose to stop using the call center in India.

so ... did you get it fixed? if not, talk to a different customer support. i remember when i had problems with my dell a few years ago. about 60% of the time i was told i don't know anything about computers. that 40% was good at least. back then i don't recall any indians, so it's gotta suck now.

Dell customer support truly sucks! No matter how many times you call them they arent worth a damn...they dont help you. You can just do a search of my past posts to see all the fun I had.
