So I head out to dinner like usual today at the dining hall. The temperature just recently lowered to about 10 degrees, mind you, so I decided to finally close my window as my room was staying pretty moderate with it closed. I come back about 45 minutes later to the sound of my bios alarm "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP", WTF? That only happens when the beast is getting really hot....meanwhile I notice that the room is QUITE warm and my heat (its steam heat for the whole dorm) was definitely producing lots of heat although the knob is clearly OFF. I immediately turn off the computer, let it rest for a little while and attempt to turn it back on. Upon this I realize the video card...my Abit Siluro TI-4600...is no longer functioning. I grabbed my friends gf4mx and tried it...it worked. I am not quite sure how the video card died from the heat because I wasn't running anything graphically intense in the background and it has a fan over the gpu too. Hopefully ABIT will RMA it for me.
