colossus
05-24-2000, 12:41 AM
Yeah, but you could make it like Jen-nay in Forrest Gump hehe http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyways, I got my name because in highschool I was huge - 230 lbs of solid muscle. Now I'm just 220lbs of muscle and fat (damn UCLA). The name has indication as to my, err, feet size as the tag on my post would indicate http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

I'm still probably one of the 4 biggest guys in my med class of 180 people. I've used this name on BBSs, internet, deals, etc. That's why when somebody got my colossus on napster I got pissed as I have never seen anybody use it (Maybe some X-Men obsessive).

If I were anybody else's name I would be SpeedFreak. Everybody should do nearly Mach 2 in a F15 http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

NiceMann, everybody is nice to you. They bring you flowers, chocolate, kisses http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif ROTFLOL

What is the meaning of your username, or how did you come up with it?

I am so named because I like fast things. Cars, my computer, my i-net connection, etc. I heard one of my friends say that one time and I jumped on it. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

ok, my name has a weird story behind it. I first chose to use the name (or a similar one) immediately after watching the movie, the jackal. Upn signing onto MPlayer, i needed a screen name, so i chose (what i thought to haev been) the name of the jackal's boat: "Promiscuous Minx." Apparently the boat actually said Illustrious Minx, but i was young and didn't recognize the difference in definition. Eventually i got curious, and looked up what both words meant..and that is when i shortened my name to ProMinx, and now that is the name that i use everywhere when i sign up for something.
ProMinx
ps - in case any of you didn't know, Promiscuous means sexually adtive, and minx means...flirty girl; i am a guy...so that didn't work out, and honestly, i choose not to be sexually active also, so...neither name really fits. Yeah, yeah, stop laughing at the virgin.

Mike_N_Ike
05-24-2000, 02:49 AM
Where did Mike_N_Ike come from...

My name is Mike http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

I think I was eating Mike N Ike's the first time I ever played Quake III in the dorms and I needed a name...so that was easy enough.

And since then...its always been Mike N Ike. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Crunch It Now
05-24-2000, 04:03 AM
a spin off of Cap'n Crunch - which is what i used to go by as my "internet identity". but whenever i tried to use it when i signed up with things, it had already been taken (i guess that name is popular). so i had to come up with something a little more original - and so far noone has used this name for anything http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Bloodymess
05-24-2000, 07:30 AM
Mine started from the early days in Quake 2.
I had just gotten my first computer and had been using many names in Q2 but it seemed every time I was trying to show off how good I to my friends they would ask "which one is you?" and in first person shooters you can't see your skin until you've been killed I would always come back to my dead skin, shoot it to point it out and state "I'm that bloodymess over there" .
I started using it as a name as a kind of joke until one day I tried out for Team Finest and when I found out I was accepted it was too late to change as it had already been announced and posted to "welcome our newest member [TF] Bloodymess"
Since then most people have shortened it to "Bloody" and some have used "BM" but I'd prefer not to be confused woth a Bowel Movement after all I'm not a turd I'm a Bloodymess http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Tuvi
05-24-2000, 07:36 AM
Tuvi and Dava were my imgainary friends.. yeah so i had imaginary friends.. laugh it up. tuvi is a girl and dava is her brother, so since i'm a girl, i chose tuvi as my nick. but i hardly use that name for anything because i dont want to exploit it. so i have many, many other names i use for other things such as icq. my name currently is marigold (a nirvana song sung by dave grohl), but i change it every week or so, or whenever i come up with a new name or a song that i like. actually i've had marigold as my icq name for quite some time now. i think i'm to up like a month.

Once upon a time, way back in the day I was playing some lame arcade game and I got a high score. I didn't want to take the time to put in my initials so I just spun the controller and pressed the fire button three times. It came up as "FUZ" and I have been using it for about 10 years now.

Badfish is a song by sublime that I had stuck in my head back when my family got AOL. I couldn't think of a better SN so I used it. Since even back then it was damn near impossible to get an AOL SN without having a ton of numbers after it I made it all caps with a lower case l instead of a capital i. All of my friends got to know my as BADFlSH so i've just never changed it.

RoniMan
05-24-2000, 10:40 PM
ok, my full name is Chi-Chung Ni (pronounced much differently in mandarin). but my second grade teacher couldn't pronounce it properly, so she decided to americanize it: she called me ****-joe nee). later, when i was introduced to my friend's parent. they said, "oh ****-joe nee? that's easy to remember, it sounds like 'cheecharoni'! (which, for those that don't know, are dried pork rinds)" so they called me the cheecharoni man for a while, then just shortened it just "roniman."
ps. my real name has also been shortened as well, to just "chi".
man! i hope nothing else of mine gets shortened ... by that i meant life span! you guys are sick! :P

hapoo means puppy in my language (Farsi)

Same thing for my quake name *Runner
I got it back in the days of Quake2. i couldn't come up with anything and i just wanted to play so i set it to Runner. Then when quake3 just came out i couldn't tell the bots from the people so i asked all the people to put a * before their name and its been like that ever since.

Chief Broom
05-25-2000, 05:56 PM
My name is from a book by Ken Kesey called "One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest." There is a pretty good movie version of it as well starring jack nicholson.

I read it back in junior high and I was totally fascinated by this "psychotic" Indian all the patients called "Chief Bromden." Because of his janitorial duties they began to call him Chief Broom as a joke. He was gargantuan, and never spoke a word the entire time he was in the ward, even though he internalized everything going on about him

The part i really liked was that Ken Kesey got the reader in the mind of Chief Broom by taking a hit of acid then typing up the chapter while tripping out. The chapter is all form Broom's perspective. Blew my mind!

spigidygak
05-30-2000, 02:05 AM
Okay I'm sure some of you are wondering how to even pronounce my name. Hehe, well it all began when my friend and I had these wonderful air horns and we had them at school. And once in a while during class I'd set mine off or he would and we would just start going off. hehe, very nice distraction, of course everyone appreciated the noise. . . Well anyhow, my friend one day said, "hey did you hear me 'spigidygak' you?" and well thats how it began. So "spigidygak" is a verb of some sort I guess. . . Oh yeah and its pronounced spi-gi-dee-gak.
