Stupid Key. I misplaced the key to my community's tennis court and I borrowed my friends, but nobody will copy it because it's made by this company called 'do not duplicate' that nobody likes to deal with.
Anybody else been in this situation and found a way out?

For situations like that, I either A.) try to find a shady lock smith B.) Find a simluar key blank and file the blank to perfection. It sounds like since it is a community spot, the lock is well used and not as picky. I would go to my local walmart or hardware store and just find a simular blank, IE same length, same width, same number peaks and waht not.

Once when I was in college there was a key stamped "Do Not Copy" that I wanted to get copied. So I put a piece of masking tape over the "Do Not Copy", wrote some meaningless number on the tape (so it looked like it identified some peg number for storing the key), smudged up the tape so it looked dirty like it had been on the key a long time, took it to my handy hardware store, and walked out with a copy (and the original).
Possessing master keys to your college can be lots of fun! :D
Dude.
Get a girl friend, to go to home depot or some such place that makes keys, and have her use her breasts to get keys made.
"I misplaced my gate key, and I can't get into my place... the landlord let me borrow this... can you help me" *bats eyes* *leans over to reveal more cleavage*
That's what mine did... worked like a charm :D

Markel has the right idea, smart thinking.
Actually, there are certain keys that are proprietary keys that nobody else except one locksmith will have. This was the case with one of my apartment building keys. The key that opens up all of the outside doors from the street can only be made by the building management. This was confirmed with 3 different locksmiths and Home Depot. They were able to copy the door key to my apartment itself, but not the key into the building

i do not know where you live, but if you live anywhere close to a china town then just bring your key there to duplicate. they do not ask any question and most cannot read english. that's how i got mine.....:-)

Wow...thanks for all the ideas. I'm going to try each and every one of them until I get a new key.

Is it that they Can't copy the key or won't copy the key. If they won't go to some drugstore, get some tool of a kid in highschool who is working and have him make the copies. That would solve the problem if they won't do it. And if the punk says something, slip him a bill or two.

Which do you prefer... The gas bill, the energy bill, or maybe the cable bill?
